Scoopendorf’s Ice Cream Company: A Hidden Ice Cream Goldmine
Scoopendorf’s Ice Cream Company

Don’t let this little ice cream shop that’s tucked away in a strip mall on South Best Avenue in Walnutport, Pennsylvania fool you! The Ice Cream God’s command you to stop here! Trust me!
So from the street it looks a little disappointing. There’s nothing screaming, “come try our ice cream.” But inside is a completely different story. This moderately sized parlor has everything ice cream for sale! I’ll admit, it looks a little outdated but you won’t care about that when you try their products.
Also known as the Ice Cream Lab, Scoopendorf’s offers over 70 flavors made right in this facility! On this date they had 48 in their display freezer for sale by the scoop. With enticing tastes such as Key Lime Pie, Jolly Rancher, and Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, you seriously can’t go wrong!
They don’t just offer ice cream either. Sherbets, soft ice cream, sorbets, frozen yogurt, Italian ice, and custard flavors makes stopping here a no-brainer. Not to mention frozen ice cream cupcakes, cakes, and even pies to purchase on the go! Today’s specials included Warm Apple Dumpling Sundae and a Strawberry Shortcake Sundae. All of this makes me wish I had a bigger stomach cavity.
Although their no fat/no sugar added frozen yogurt in a gluten free cone was enticing, I opted for one scoop of Playdough and one scoop of Cookie Monster in a bowl. Because clearly I’m a thirty-something trapped in a three year-old’s palate. Rock had one scoop of Cookies and Cream, his go-to flavor, and one scoop of Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough. Needless to say, we were beyond impressed by the flavor packed into each scoop! I don’t even care if my poop turns blue after eating the Cookie Monster flavor, it was totally worth it! I took a bite of the Fudge Brownie Cookie Dough from my traveling companions bowl. Talk about chocolate perfection! It was worth stealing a bite even though he nearly took my hand off.
So here’s how they rated on the extremely scientific, best ever ice cream rating scale.
Creaminess– 5 out of 5 stars (super duper, perfectly creamy)
Flavor– 4.8 out of 5 stars (the cookies and cream was average but all of the other flavors we tried were fantastic)
Freshness– 4.8 out of 5 stars (it felt like we were eating it right off of the churn)
Serving Size– 3.8 out of 5 stars (a little light on the serving size, but not too small, just not crazy big scoops)
Total Score- 4.6 out of 5 stars
We highly recommend Scoopendorf’s! It’s a beautiful ride through the country in an unsuspecting location, offering flavor packed options of super creamy ice cream perfection!
